He has a new film called A Bread Factory that looks amazing but who knows where it will play or when I’ll be able to see it. Turns out he made a film called The Grief of Others in 2015 that so far I can’t find on DVD or Streaming. I had thought he had disappeared like so many talented American filmmakers due to lack of interest in truly complex films in the uS. UPDATE – Ap– Patrick Wang’s In the Family (2011) was one of the best American films I’ve seen in the last 10 years. UPDATE: Aug– Patrick Wang’s A Bread Factory will be released on Oct 6. – Paul Morrissey’s News From Nowhere is still Nowhere to be found or seen. UPDATE: Aug– Where in gods name can we see Charles Burnett’s The Annihilation of Fish with James Earl Jones and Lynn Redgrave? UPDATE: How can Mark Daniels Sundance winning The Influence of Strangers be absolutely forgotten and unavailable? Sundance is bullshit of course but you’d hope Redford would make sure all his winners were available on some format or on hi damn channel. Good news!! Patrick Wang’s The Grief of Others will be available October 1st on Amazon.
